Trying to use script tag in TagUI

I am trying to implement jQuery in tagUI. To do this I must use the script tag to implement the code in the datacapture.cfg file but for some reason I get an error(see below).

There was a problem with the metadata capture configuration. Merging rulesets for these files failed: /default/main/Development/WORKAREA/Work/sites/Development/test.page. Please contact your system administrator.

It doesn't seem to like script tags within the ruleset tag. Has anyone had any luck with this.
