Solaris: Is it safe to change the uid of iwguser?

I have to change the uid of the iwguser on my Solaris servers running TS 6.7.2. I have checked, and the only place i see files belonging to this user is under /iwmnt, nothing under $IW-HOME. I looked in the docco and knowledgebase, and the only info i found [1] contains the rather ominous warning "You must not modify or delete iwguser."

I have looked through the various config files and logs, and i do find a few that mention iwguser by name, but nothing that seems to point to a specific uid (it is mentioned in the iwtrace.log, but that's not a config file, so...).

Doaes anybody have any thoughts/experience with this?

That would be modify

If you change the UID you will be in some serious trouble. You *probably* can fix any issues by running tspostreboot.pl bit TS sets a lot of permissions that in Unix must be for the UID

In addition, you'd probably have to use iwidmap to fix any mappings of the old UID to the new UID.

I'd suggest working with Support to make sure you don't completely botch up the existing installation.

Thanks for the input, i am trying to argue that we just can't change this uid without risking the need for a full re-installation of teamsite. If i do have to change it i'll post any long winded tales of woe here below.

Of course that is the advantages to being a consultant. Warn them that it may turn ugly and be told to do it anyway, *many* extra hours. Smiley Very Happy
