Component Preview hangs

In FF 3x, all I get from a new component with no content is a spinning wheel with "Loading" underneath when selecting to preview the component.

In IE 7+ I get a JavaScript error box and the spinning wheel as described above.

This happened after a livesite customer toolkit build. Not a build update, but a make_toolkit.ipl

what log files should I be looking at to resolve this?

So far I've tried:
rebuilding the toolkit
revert to previous code base in toolkit and rebuilding
reseting the UI (iwreset -ui)
stop & start iwserver

Any help?

servletd log files should be a good starting point. Try looking in there first and see if you find anything obvious. Also do you have any externals / controllers or any AJAX type of stuff in your components? If yes, make sure that is valid and returning what you are expecting it to return and not hanging somewhere.

Usually for SP related issues servletd is the key log. Also when a page is not loading properly, do "View Source" and see if anything is being shown there.

In any case glad you got it figured out.
