not able to call external task from workflow

hi experts,

i am not able to call an external TASK ipl file from my workflow ,ipl is working on command line (simple task is to copy the selected files from one WA to another WA and start a deployment on the basis of it)

now when i call it from a wft it is not getting called (the log file is also not getting generated ), i am a new bie to workflows ,i executed few test workflows and they were ok ,i think i may be missing soething simple here ,i am attaching the job specfication code segment here

Someone did a poor job of installing TS - because installing it within Program Files (or any path with a space in it) is known to cause problems and is thus not recommended
Make sure that
E:/PROGRA~1/INTERW~1/TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl
is not a zero-length file (you should remove it if it is, or else just remember to always include the .exe on the end of the application name)

The latter will be checked by my suggestion. Which is why I said use the command exactly.

thanks for your replies ,the issue got solved ,i did iwreset(our event subsytem was down) and it worked ,can you please tell how can i check for "conflicts" if there is one when the submit task is getting executed ,i am attaching relevant job specs code segment is given below .the workflow is working as per requirements except for two issues:-

1.conflict check in case there are any when files are getting submitted
2.Files selected initially are not showing when the control goes to QA task.

Looking forward for some guidance from experts,

By default, the submittask will automatically perform conflict detection and, if it finds any conflicts, "magically" insert-and-activate a conflict-resolution [CGI] task. Alternatively, you could use a success/failure transition specification instead of the successorset transition specification you are currently using, but then the onus is on you with regard to handling the conflict resolution process.

The selected file thing might be due to the fact that you have two concurrent start tasks, both of which are attempting to add files. In theory, I think this should work, but I can't say I've written too many workflows with multiple start tasks. You could try just removing the code for adding pre-selected files from one of the two start tasks and see if that resolves the problem... however, looking at the job spec, my guess is that you want to remove the

template_script

code from the QA usertask and remove the

start="t"

attribute from that task too - and that would probably solve your problem (along with some you might not have yet noticed).

Have they ever implemented a way to detect a conflict so that you can send a notification? That has always been a thorn in my side that there's no way to know if you had a submit/update conflict unless you went and looked at the GUI. Seems like there should be a special successor for submittask and updatetask so you could call an externaltask and send an email.

thanks for your reply ,the files attachement issues got solved after i followed your instructions and regarding submit task ,i think its better to go with the implicit submit conflict check (it sort of satisfies requirements),i tried to use command iwconflictcheck.cgi(used in a default supplied workflow) but workflow start giving errors ,i have also noticed an attribute "skipconflicts" in pdf ,will search more on this ,
