Is it possible to have a separate group for a particular branch that can view,edit and deploy only content in one folder with in that branch and not be able to view other folders in that branch.

Like I have under branch1 different folders like f1,f2 and f3. I want a particuar group of users grp1 to work with only f1.

You need to distinguish between file / directory access rights (groups) and functional / TeamSite action rights (roles).

Is it possible to do what you want? Probably, but one would have to sit down and go through the various aspects of the scenario before being able to provide a definitive response.

Till date (considering the latest TS version) I reckon there is only branch level permissions available, you can't hide the folders inside a branch giving different perms.

This is not something that will be workable from a devnet post. Someone needs to deploy examine the folders, permissions required, users that are out there, what groups are available and document everything that is desired. From that build an implementation. If you cannot do it have your boss bring someone (like Adam) in that can.

Yes. Or maybe. Or no. It depends on whether I am interpreting your initial post as you intended. Define "folder". Branches cannot contain folders. They can contain workareas or subbranches. What you want might be really easy to do. Or it might be impossible. Or it might be a pain in the ****.

Do you want a single branch and single workarea in which both of your groups work, but are limited to only accessing certain folders in that workarea? Or do you just want subbranches with access restrictions? Or something else?

So I want to give a particular group of users editor,author permissions to say(F1) and none for the remaining (F2,F3...). Is this possible?

Branch permissions can be as granular as you want. That is exactly why people use branches, to keep acces restricted or roles restricted to groups or users. You should take a basic administration class or bring in someone that has implemented TeamSite before.

As long as you're not trying to say that F1, F2, etc. subbranches are contained in W1, a workarea, which isn't possible, then yes, this is clear.

For sake of this example, we'll just say the role is "Author". But the role doesn't really matter. Create groups to correspond to F1, F2, F3...etc and named accordingly. Then create a group of groups named FS that contains all these groups you just created.

On branch B1 modify the Users-and-Roles and set the user (which is actually a group) FS to role Author. Then for each subbranch F1, F2, etc. do the same, but set each corresponding group you created to role Author. Make sure that for all the F subbranches, that user/roles are not inherited. When you create the workareas, set the group for sharing to be that same corresponding group.

BUT...

If you somehow misused the term subbranches above and you really did mean folders (which can be contained within a workarea), then all you need to do is manually modify the permissions of those folders in the workarea to restrict by group and consider whether you want to have a broad group as the "Group for Sharing" or to have a role with the permission override set to allow "View and modify files in workareas where they are not a member of the group for sharing."

I have one more question though. I am also creating a new branch. I did , changed all the open deploy configs and templates config. Now, while deploying it is saying "OpenDeploy Status Unknown. FAILED." In the log files it says
