Hi All -

Env = TS 6.7.2 (Build 69626), Solaris 8

We are testing our DCT/TPL preview and we cannot get the OOTB templates to work, let alone our custom PTs.

To me, as long as your have templating.cfg configured and the right folder structure setup in a workarea, the OOTB examples (i.e. with no embedded custom code) are *supposed* to work fine. We always get a PT compiling error & consult the log (even with the post basic PT read: book review or iwpt_output("hello world")). The log contains nothing but useless NullPointerExceptions that aren't very useful in the debugging process.

Can anyone help out on this one? I am leaning toward a permissions issue, but it could be a missing configuration somewhere. BTW, we are using the preview-dir attribute and setting a folder in the root of the workarea called preview with root as the owner (RWX), and everyone has read only access.

Need a little clarification

You say you can't get the OOTB templates to work but in the next paragraph you say you're able to get the OOTB to work.

Which is it? are you able to get the OOTB examples to work? Or is it when you add your custom code to the OOTB examples they start failing? If the latter is the case then most likely you have errors in your custom code.

The best thing to do is strip the templates down to the basics and slowly add pieces till you run into the error and then you've narrowed down where your templates are blowing up.

Also have you tried changing the location of the preview-dir to somewhere under templatedata? that's where we have our preview dir set

Sorry for the confusion Jamik, we cannot get the OOTB templates to work. Previewing bombs all the time, even with the most basic PT. I will edit the original post.

Are you using local users or LDAP users ? If you have LDAP users with non-os users defined they must use the XSL templates not PT templates.

Check iwhome/conf/roles/user_database.xml

I was related to the iw-mount alias not being configured in httpd.conf for Apache web server.
