setting up my own dev environment

twgerber

I want to setup my own dev environment so I can develop offline.

What would be a good (inexpensive) setup that people would recommend for a dev environment?

Also does anyone know if I can install teamsite for free as a developer (I am an independent contractor)?

I have always worked within a corporate environment and I was looking around and couldn't find any information on type of a setup.

Thanks

There is no good inexpensive setup for a dev environment. You need to purchase a license agreement from Autonomy Interwoven. That alone will likely cost you more than any machine you could buy. Also note that teamSite expects you to be running a server grade OS. So if you're running windows xp/vista/7 you're gonna need to perform some trickery to trick the install into thinking you're on windows server version.

Officially, there is no developer/offline version of Interwoven products outside Interwoven.

Expect to invest between $20K and $50K easily:

be rewarding, but it's definitely not without risk and cost.

And then multiply that by three if you want Linux, Solaris and DOS copies. Plus your electric bill gets quite high. Smiley Very Happy
