Upgrading OpenDeploy 4x

Hi,

We are currently looking to upgrade from OD 4.5.2.
Ideally we would like to upgrade to OD 5.5.1 SP2 but this requires OpenAPI with the associated increased cost and complexity (we have TS 5.0.1).
On the other hand an upgrade to OD 5.0.1 SP2 does not require OpenAPI but is missing useful features such as the ability to deploy to different versioned OD receivers and the addition of the Deployment Configuration Composer.

Any advise/comments welcome.

I am not quite sure I am following you. OD5.5.1 requires OpenAPI just for the operations server and the OD admin gui. The OD Base and Receiver components do not need open api and can actually be run without the admin gui and operations server (from the command line only).

In the OD administration guide the install instructions for the operations server state that you either need a TS server version 5.0.1 and later or you need to install the OD operations server (one or the other).

So, if you have TS5.0.1 you should be able to have a self contained install of an ODbase server, and the OD admin server on your TS server or you could go the route of having a secondary server just for the ODadmin and ODops servers and just install the ODbase server on your TS server and ODrcvr/ODbase servers on your targets..

This operations server is actually not a new requirement for OD5.5.1. OD5.0.1 also required either a TS5.0.1 server or a secondary operations server on another machine to use the OD admin gui.

One and the same.
Chico is short for Francisco, the Portuguese equivalent for Francis. It doesn't help that my family name is Pacheco!!!
I'm the one in the middle... the other two are old colleagues.

Thanks for the advice above. What confused me was the inclusion of a paragraph in OD5.5 admin manual which states;
"If you are using OpenDeploy in conjunction with Teamsite 5.0 or later, you must use the TeamSite OpenAPI instead of the operations server software."
