Web Daemon was unable to contact the Interwoven Servlet
jihan
Hi,
I'm trying to run TeamSite from my server, but it returned me an error:
The Interwoven Web Daemon was unable to contact the Interwoven Servlet Engine. The Interwoven Servlet Engine may be down, or running on an unexpected host or port.
Server details:
TS 7
Windows Server 2003 SP2
Attach is my iw.cfg. Can anybody please tell me what I did wrong?
Thank you in advance.

Look through the logs some more - especially iwtrace.log and iwui/servletd_out.log - perhaps you'll find some more informative messages.

As you are running under windows, check the TeamSite Servlet Engine service to be sure it is running. If not, start it. If it then stops on its own, you need to examine the log for the servlet engine and determine why.
Log files to check are:
iw-home/local/logs/iwui/servletd_err.log
iw-home/local/logs/iwui/servletd_out.log
iw-home/local/logs/iwtrace.log
If/when you resolve the issue, post here what the solution was and close the thread.

Issue an iwreset -a command.
This will attempt to restart the TeamSite UI Services. Might try a couple of times if the first time does not work. If after a couple of times you still get the same error message, then look in the logs.

Hi,
Log files indicated that there is a port number that is being used by other application. So I stopped that, reboot the machine and everything runs smoothly now.
Thank you for your help!

You should find out what application uses that port or else the when somebody else tries to run that application, they'll get an error.
Some common ports:
8080 for TeamSite servlet engine (apache tomcat)
81 for customer webserver
80 for TeamSite webserver
1080 for iwproxy
If somebody tries to use those ports with other application, then those might not start. Or else if they start their application first, and then you try to start teamsite, you'll get the error message instead.

Thanks mart2001, it was actually my port 8080 that was used by some other application. I'll bear in mind that the next time.
Thanks again!
