Nico,
I am not quite sure I follow what you mean by "i've created a dcr of course named datacapture.cfg however it is not showing up when I select the file/new data capture record option but the directory it resides in is showing".

Do you mean:
1) you created a file named datacapture.cfg and you are expecting it to show up when you do a File->New Data Record?
2) You are expecting to seeing a choice named "prStandard" when you select File->New Data Record and then choose the "demo" catagory?
3) something completely different all together?
