DD substitution Q

OK I do not think I can do what I want to (with DD substitution) but here goes.

I am using DD to push a PR to a file, I also want to push the destination URL.

I was hoping that I could use the substitution section to create the URL (which I can) however I can only do it by overwriting the original path variable (which DD uses)

What I would like to do is set a second path variable (path1) with path, use that in the substitution and go to town.

I figure I can do it with a preprocessor and know I can by adding a field to the DCR. But I would have thought this common functionality with DD so I thought I would see how other people do it.

I do not believe that you can do what you are asking for. Personally, I would use a TupleProcessor for this.

Alternatively, (assuming, based on your example, that you have some mapping logic between your DCR and SP page), you can set an EA that contains the value of SP Page and then in your DD just use that EA value. No substitution and no tuple processor necessary. More than likely set that EA at WF time or onSave event.
