problem with visual format

I configured my Visual format editor to use mdash and ndash.
IT worked fine.When i try to enter an mdash or ndash i am able to see it in the visual editor.But when i save it,the DCR has some junk character instead of &#151 or &#150.

I tried configuring charencode as everything (utf,binary whatever)

I want my DCR to have these values (&#151 or &#150)


Any suggestions?

It worked for me if i use charencode = "charref"
