Are you fetching different information for each replicated drop-downs, or the same information for all replicated drop-downs?

If the former, you'll have to do a callserver process coupled with an onReplicantAdded event handler.

If the latter, you could probably load all the information into a hidden field on form initialization, and then retrieve it from there in your onReplicantAdded event handler.

I'm done with the above task now I have one more concern....when I open the DCR in edit mode I could only see the values selected by the user before saving the DCT but I have requirement: when I open the DCR in edit mode my dropdown should show all the values including user selected values highlighted.

The above is confusing - are you saying you have a multi-select drop-down menu item?
If so - someone needs their head examined as that is a horrible UI.

If you're talking about a multi-select list - the highlighting should already be done for you.

If you're talking about a single-select drop-down list, then I'm not sure if it's possible, but you might be able to play with the CSS used by the form to do what you want - but again, I'm not sure if it's possible (at least within the constraints of the OOTB Edit DCR form UI)

What you are doing is setting an option something like:

...Option(label, value, false, false);

One of those parameters (marked false) is selected. So when you build a list from scratch, you need to first see what was previously select and set the parameter to true for that option.

I have a multi select drop down box which fetches the values from database based on the first single select drop down box selected value...

Suppose Single Select First Drop-Down has values: A, B, C, D (if A is selected)
Second Multi- Select Drop Down values corresponding to A are populated: Angel, Angle, Anklet, Artifact and if Angel is selected and saved.

When I open the dcr in edit mode my first drop down works fine showing all the values A, B, C, D with A selected where as my second drop down shows only option "Angel" that is selected by the user.

I have
newOptions = new Option(params, params, false, false); I have tried various combinations of false, false options but it didnt work for me to make sure ....

Then you are not populating it, it is still the one read from the DCR load. There are no options only the one you have (Angel) in the DCR.

To take this a step further in diagnosis - this usually happens when populate the lists within an event handler and forget to populate them when no event handler is called.

One trick is to check, within the init() function, whether or not the DCR already has a name and make calls out based on the existing values you have in your first select list to re-populate the second select list (maintaining the pre-existing selections)

Thanks Adam, through global variables and adding some code in init() i could acheive the desired functioanlity.
