Hi,
I got a new question thrown at me by someone, to hide the content store.
I have two questions.
1. Is it possible to do?
2. Is templating.cfg anywhere involved in that ? (i certainly do not think so, but was asked specifically how to make change in that file)
Sorry, do not have anymore TS server to try new things.
Appreciate any input here.

Worked on TS 6.5 SP2 on windows server 2003

You are not able to hide the active content stores. You can configure Branch and Workarea Security to not show Branches or workareas that the user does not have access to in the iw.cfg file.

Here is a direct snippet from the TS Admin Manual:

Branch and Workarea Security
Branch and workarea security determines whether or not users can see (in ContentCenter) the names of branches and workareas they do not have access to. By default, the branch_security and workarea_security lines in the [iwserver] section of iw.cfg are set to off. This means that all branch and workarea names are displayed to users even if they do not have permission to access them (they see the name of the branch or workarea, but they cannot click on it and [N/A] displays next to it). You can configure TeamSite to not display the names of branches and workareas in the ContentCenter if the user does not have read permissions by editing the branch_security and workarea_security lines in the section of iw.cfg as follows:

branch_security=on
workarea_security=on

How about this workaround to acheive this ?

use the CLT iwstoreadm -d storename to deactivate the store.
The store is hidden from the GUI. Deactivating the store does not delete the store.

What is the reason behind hiding the content store?
You can just de activate it, but no one will be able to see it until it is activated again.
templating.cfg has nothing specific due to the content store.
It is used for setting up your data capture templates and presentation (which resides on the content store). Unlike the wft workflows, which is stored in your iw-home/local/config/wft folder. The ipm workflows are now stored in the iwadmin content store, but you would not have that in TS 6.5.
