Getting null value by "IWDatacapture.getUser()” in custom_instantiation.cfg

Hi

I am using TeamSite 6.7.1.
In “custom_instantiation.cfg” of WFM. I am trying to get user name by using getUser() method of IWDatacapture means trying this “IWDatacapture.getUser()” but it is returning null value. I want to fetch current logged in user in “custom_instantiation.cfg”
Could you please help me on this?

The $IW_USER variable returns the current user.

Not entirely sure if it can be used for custom instantiation.

Is this code just sitting in the middle of the configuration file or is it enclosed by some tags, or ???.
Where/when/how is this function getting called?
Where/when/how is the code that's calling this getting called? etc.

Try to remember that when you ask a question in the forum - we have no information about your site, your servers, your versions of the applications, your code, your configuration files, etc. So think about what you can see and we cannot - and try to make that information visible to us.

Right now we are doing POC so client is not involved in this testing.
I have checked the same on 4 or 5 machines, getting the same issue.

Try answering the other questions that were asked - keep in mind that "client machine" means the machine on which the browser is running that connects to the TeamSite service - not the machine that your customer is using (though that could be the same)

What browser (vendor / version) for the client machine?

We are tried it in the following browser as mentioned below.

1. Microsoft Internet Explorer versions – 6.0
2. 3.0.15 Mozilla Firefox

We try the same from multiple machine but getting same issue.

Well - I've told you all I can see from glancing at your code and the information you've provided here. I don't see anything glaringly wrong, but I also don't have your environment within which to reproduce and debug the problem.

Perhaps someone else here will spot something I missed, or have an environment in which they can reproduce and debug the issue. Other than that, you probably need to talk to support.

Before you do however, I recommend creating a very simple WFM (e.g.: Start -> UserTask -> EndTask) with a very simple custom instantiation form with as little code as possible and verify that you can reproduce it that way (e.g.: one or no fields of entry, just the setting of the variable and the alert, etc.) If you can reproduce it that way, it makes it much easier to provide that to Support and have them try to reproduce the problem in-house.
