In tpl below syntax works fine.
< iw_load_dcr file="/mnt/iwmnt/default/main/Main/BB/master/WORKAREA/nirmal/templatedata/common/local_template/data/local.dcr" var="checkhere" global="t" ienc="UTF-8" mode="ptlocal" />
my $page_layout_name_id = iwpt_dcr_value("dcr.root.pageLayout.id");
iwpt_output("\n page_layout_name_id = \"".$page_layout_name_id."\" \n");

But if i have a variable $dcrName getting fed as path to dcr then < iw_load_dcr syntax fails.

This is not working

The use of mode="ptlocal" seems somewhat questionable if you're going to provide a full file system path (or vice-versa) though from the documentation it should be the same as if you used mode="cwd" and should be fine.

What isn't clear from the above (besides the missing quotes around $dcrName which was already brought up) is the code / context between those two lines. The first line is Perl code and would have to be enclosed within <iw_perl>...</iw_perl> tags, the second line is an XML wrapper for perl code - and thus should not be enclosed within the iw_perl tags - but we cannot tell from what you've posted if you actually did that correctly. Depending on if/how your using the iw_pt tag in your PT will determine if you need CDATA tags within the iw_perl tags.

So - care to show us a bit more of your PT?
