Navigation and "Pretty" URLs
chietala
I'm just wondering how people build their navigation in Teamsite? Currently our process is very clunky and we have people that are not very tech oriented that are building pages.
A lot of people struggle with the interface that just shows a repository of files instead of a structured interface where it shows parent to child relationships between documents.
I know this is a feature in SitePublisher but I was wondering if anyone had any experience of showing site structure and building a more graphical navigation in TeamSite.
Also, is there any easy way to make "pretty" URLs without an extension and show structure in the URL?
Example: example.com/landing-page/child-of-landing-page
Currently we generate out just htm files and if you want to show structure you have create a new directory and put those files in it.
Thanks

Many sites use a navigation template to do this. I always build a DCR to capture navigation and then use that to build top nav, side nav, bread crumbs etc.
The added bonus is that with a navigation DCR, if someone creates a new DCR, they can select the page (or parent) and the template (with some work) can determine the DCR path (and possibly name) so the user does not do any of that.

Your question is somewhat unclear to me:
Do you refer to SitePublisher or Teamsite?
And also, if teamsite, is your/enduser problem that they:
- find it hard to navigate to a specific file in teamsite?
- find it hard to define a sitemap for your website?
