failure in db connection using perl

hi,
I have given the following string to connect to the Oracle database:

i am attaching the file which contains the code to connect to the database :
the error that i am getting is :
"Unrecognized character: \x91" at the following line :
my $dbh = DBI->connect(‘dbiracle:host=10.76.132.30;sid=ASDEV ;’,’asdn’,’dhruv’,{RaiseError=>1, PrintError=> 1}) or die “cannot connect”;

my user name is :asdn
password:dhruv
sid:asdev
host:10.76.132.30.

I can't seem to get the error .. COuld anyone enlighten me ??

as far as i know you can use a name that is listed in the tnsnames.ora file. If this name can be used in sql-plus to connect dbi should be able to use it as well.

Thus:

sqlplus scott/tiger@mydb

is equivalent to:

my $db=DBI->connect("dbiracle:mydb", "scott", "tiger");

If this fails this command will help you with debugging:

die $DBI::errstr if ! $db;
