Modified Date Format

Hi All,

I want to get the modifed date of my DCR's in the following format yearmonthday (i.e 20091126) while i get it in the following manner

Thu Nov 26 11:10:07 2009

I tried using Date::Format

$modified = `iwattrib $item1 moddate`;
$modified=time2str("%Y%m%d", $modified);

But its not working.
It gives me the result as 19700101

Can anyone help?

First you should probably amend your code to be as follows:

chomp($modified = qx(iwattrib $item1 modddate));

The newline that gets saved with the value could be throwing off the time2str function.

However, that in itself won't solve the problem if $modified starts with a "nice" date string (e.g.: "Thu Nov 26 11:10:07 2009") because time2str expects the number of seconds since epoch to be used as the second argument. Instead, Date::Manip should probably be used:

chomp(my $modified = qx(iwattrib $item1 moddate));
($modified = ParseDate($modified)) =~ s/^(\d{8}).*$/$1/;
