Files Getting Deleted From Staging

Hi..

We have total 9 work areas. Accidentally, few days back, I found data from Staging folder for one of the workareas has been deleted. For all other workareas, data in Staging folder is still present.

Since Staging folder data, can not be deleted manually, how is it possible ?

On one of the forums, I found that, If we have several workareas. pointing to same Staging, and user deletes data from one of the WA and submits it, will cause deletion of data from Staging. This makes sense.

As per my understanding this should not be the case with us. I just wanted to confirm if once, cal any body tell whats going wrong.

I also checked the submit logs, but I did not find anything wrong there.

This is the only way to delete content from staging area.
Someone must have deleted the content in workarea and submit it to staging.

Please explain how you are determining:

The statement that you can see both does not really make sense (to me) - so perhaps it is the manner in which you are deducing this that is wrong - because staging is either populated with content or it isn't - it cannot be both.

There are 9 Workares and each has Staging folder.

For e.g
Branch A - Workarea,Staging,Edition
Branch B - Workarea, Staging, Edition.. etc.. like this, There are 9 Workares. Each has seperate Staging area.

Only for one branch, data from Staging folder has been deleted. for all others, its still there.

Clearly you either do not know much about TeamSite, or you don't know how to express your issues.

While for the first part, I second Nipper's thoughts.

On the basis of it possibly being the second - you have 9 branches and on one of the branches the staging area is empty.

Are you sure there ever was content in that branch's staging area?

I presume, this is what is meant:

There are 9 branches, each of them having multiple workareas and a staging area.
In one branch, the contents in staging cant be seen. The contents from any workarea in that branch hasn't been deleted and submitted but still the contents are absent from staging.
I hope this would now sound sensible to Dave and Adam Smiley Happy

If this is what is meant, the most obvious reason that I can think of an accidental delete and then submitting the contents [perhaps the parent folder] to staging. The user might not have thought that submitting the folder [which also had the 'deleted content and not submitted' and hence present in Staging] would delete the contents from the staging area.

Your answer would make sense to someone who has a minimal amount of knowledge pertaining to TeamSite. If you read this thread, however you will see that the original author has no idea what is going on.

Yes, I get that, But if he is looking at Staging, he will probably see something called Edition very close to that in the branch structure :-) or maybe read the manual
