Hi,

Can someone please clarify how the users preferred database affects the IManSession.PreferredDatabase? Within my session i have 5 databases, so what determines which database is used when i perform an IManSession.Login?

Hello,

I would also be interested in understanding this topic better, particularly as it pertains to the IManAdmin API.

For example, the following code fails if the database for the trusted user is not designated as the Primary database in WorkSite (even configuring it as the Preferred database for the trusted user does not work):

m_AdminDMS = new IMANADMIN.NRTDMSClass();

//DMS connect
m_AdminSession = m_AdminDMS.Sessions.Add(SERVER, null, null);

//DMS login
m_AdminSession.TrustedLogin();

If instead m_AdminSession.Login() is called using a virtual user account then the connection is successful whether the database is the Primary database or not.

Is there any way to select a specific database (i.e. the Preferred database for the user) using trusted authentication?

AFAIK The Preferred database has no implication on the login order. Worksite has its builtin logic to scan databases (possibly primary databases first and then others to find users) and use them for the authentication validation

Preferred database is used for storing the users' preferences for clients(DeskSite, Filesite WorkSiteWeb), also as a default database for search when no database is specified in search such as Worksite Web
