In-Context editable CDR component Properties error

I must be going mad, I had a simple DCR -based component doing in-context editing and now it has stopped working. Not sure what has changed.
Now When I click on the dotted-highlighted field the popup says loading properties, then...

No content properties are available for this component.

IT's loading the data from my DCR okay. My Appearance XML section is just the empty properties tags. Please somebody help, I'm losing my mind here.

When you say popup do you mean it opens a window for editing the dcr field? Also, what are the parameters being sent to the server after the click? Yoiu can use Firebug in FireFox to look at the Network traffic. Just enable firebug, then enable the Net tab and click the in context edit link. THen look at the request and look at the Params tab under the Net tab to see what was posted and/or look at the URL too see what query string params are being passed. I suspect not all the correct parameters are being passed.

Thanks Miro, in fact is t was not a problem with the code I pasted up here.
It turned out to be a problem with the datacapture.cfg for the component in question. There was a space in the "rootnode name=''" for that component - which is apparently not tolerated by ICE. Removing this space fixed all my problems.
