IW-Store Size and Backup Issue

I have huge chunk of old data in workarea. I want to take backup and delete it to reduce my store size.
For that I had submitted all the files to staging and Cut an edition and then deleted all files. But since the edition lies in the store only it doesn't reflect in the size.
MY query is Is there any way to do that? Can I get the edition out of my store and restore it if required in future?

TS Version is 6.5.
I need solution asap so please provide me the solution asap.

have you run iwfsshrink ?

Try that first.

You can also create a new branch or store and use iwmigrate to move to another branch and remove the original

Yes I have gone thoru the Administration Manual. Now I am clear that How TeamSite works during edition?
I haven't run iwfsshrink yet because not sure how it works on th existing data.
Is it safe to run this command on important data? My concern only is that I should not loose my data. Can you tell me if I have around 250 GB data in iw-store upto what extent will it be efective to reduce the store size?

Yes run iwfsshrink

it is safe, it removes duplicate information.

No idea how much it will recover but it sounds like it could be beneficial

Out of curiosity - how much space did you reclaim (e.g.: the output of iwfsshrink status)?
