Hi,

OD 6.2.1

I need to run a dnr on the target. In the DNR I'd like to copy the OD logs from one location to another. Is there a way to retrieve the deployment name in the DNR. Perhaps through environment variables or something like that.

If you have your information stream set to manifest (infoStreamFormat="manifest" in odbase or odrcvr file), then the deployment name is not included in the stream. There is an example of the XML stream in od-home/solutions/perl directory. I am not sure if OpenDeploy sets any environment variables for the DnR, it is not documented.

You should be able use a (key-value) parameter in your OD config to use the deployment name as a command line parameter on the DnR script command line. The DnR script can then access the deployment name on your target server.

I have not tried querying OpenDeploy on the target side about active deployments, but that can be another way of finding it.

An off-the-top-of-my-head "hack" solution: Use -inst with your deployments and pass the exact same string for -inst as a parameter with -k - and then have your DNR script take that parameter as a command line argument. With that information in hand, you should be able to find all the corresponding log files within ODHOME/log that contain that instance string.

However, keep in mind that at least one of those log files will still be getting written into while the DNR script is running. I suppose you could run the DNR with async="yes" and put a little time-out loop in it to try to stall until the log is finished, but that's pretty hit-or-miss.

Thanks for all your replies.

After looking at some of the deployment logs, I noticed that there are session properties. Does anyone know if these session properties are available to an OD script as variables? The specific property that looks to be of value is DEPLOYSUFFIX.

Otherwise, I'll probably try to go with using the making the -inst into a -k variable.

I was able to find a variable that is passed in OD by SitePublisher which is called fileList. It's sort of a hack. but it just so happens that the SitePublisher file list has a similar instance name as the OpenDeploy instance. So, I was able to parse the fileList variable to gain access to the instance.
