Error calling server side script

Dear All,

I have used callServer method earlier and is working fine ( location of the cgi is "/apps/iw-home/httpd/iw-bin/xyz.cgi" and am using IWDatacapture.callServer("http://hostname/iw-bin/generateHtml.cgi", param, true).

But we have installed TS 6.7.2 and strange callServer is not working now and showing File does not exist error ( location of the cgi on new TS server is "/Interwoven/Teamsite/httpd/iw-bin/generateHtml.cgi" and now am using
IWDatacapture.callServer("http://hostname/iw-bin/generateHtml.cgi", param, true).

Could anyone give me a solution for the above problem.

This is a Unix implementation - yes? Are you sure the CGI script is executable and does not contain any syntax errors?

Are you able to navigate to http://hostname/iw-bin/generateHtml.cgi from a browser? Does it show the JavaScript code you want to throw back to the form? Test the CGI in a browser before using it via callServer.

We are using linux. Also tested http://hostname/iw-bin/generateHtml.cgi in the browser but no luck and the cgi has no errors. I tested using cgi-callout url="/iw-bin/generateHtml.cgi" label="Select". It shows below error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Also checked the log files and shows the error as "No such file or Directory" error.

Please write above line in your cgi script this will resolve your "Premature end of script headers" error, and check you permission of file, the this should have
execute permission as mentaioned perviously.

Hi thanks for u r reply.

I have attached the sample cgi for debugging purpose. Also I have already given r-w-e pwemissions to the file. Still we are facing the same error.

But in the logs it is showing as "No such file or Directory"

in script, it must have the full path of Perl directives as attached in file. and change the file permission 755 and check your directory permission too.

As the error shows "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration"

Do we need to configure the folder for server side scripts resides under /httpd/iw-bin/ ??

Chances are your CGI code does not initialize its output stream correctly - or at least not in all cases - so looking at the DCT isn't going to help much it's the CGI code that would have to be examined.

Perhaps I'm wrong, or maybe it's just in a Windows env but isn't there two files that make up your generateHtml.cgi file. One is your generateHtml.pl and another is a copy of iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi that you renamed to generateHtml.cgi. After the upgrade is there a newer iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi that you now have to copy and rename?

It used to be for Windows only (different CGI though and obsolete even for Windows) and Khateef is on Unix.
Attached CGI sample has a bug, pure and simple. "Here-doc" final delimiter may not be the very last script line

If you're asking about when you needed the binary wrapper for Perl CGI scripts -- it was before the introduction of iwwebd (which I think means 5.x and eariler) on Windows, because the default "customer web server" was IIS, which was used to perform such operations, and IIS didn't like non-binary CGIs. Even then, if you made sure you had the correct #! path at the beginning of your script you might be able to get away without the binary wrapper.

Ever since the introduction of iwwebd (apache) for handling all UI functionality - there has been no need to create binary wrappers for CGI perl scripts.

Historical trivia note: A horrible "side-effect" bug of the binary wrapper on Windows was that if you had two scripts that and names longer than 8 characters and which were identically named through those first 8 characters, you could end up with binary wrappers calling the wrong script because of Window's brain-dead 8.3 convention and "short-name" "feature".

Yep, looking back at some of the last ipls I created I did not do the copy of the cgi. The older ones that I have that I did perform a copy were from 2005. Guess I should do some cleanup and delete the cgi files for those.

We have no way of knowing what "I tried all the ways I can..." could possibly mean.
It seems that your code has compilation errors, the one you've posted before certainly did.
So, try that in CLT mode:

iwperl -c Your_callServer_Code

What does it show?
