ATH_ATTACHMENT table

Wondering what this is used for. Looks like it stores links to meta-data stripped from documents. Maybe for search?

Is there a document that explains what each file in the Worksite MP database is used for?

Thanks,

RTS

WorkSite MP schema is non published. Please do not attempt any direct manipulation of data in the DB.

Thanks for the reply. I am not actually trying to manipulate any data but rather I am doing a little analysis.

My boss thinks that WorkSite MP strips attachments from documents and store them as seperate files on the file system. He thinks that these stripped attachments are linked back to their source document through this ATH_ATTACHMENT table.

I disagree and am looking for difinitive proof that this table is being used for some other purpose.

You are correct. Email attachments are NOT stripped. They are stored along with the mail message; just one file for the email and all its attachments.

ATH_ATTACHMENT may contain info about PDF, HTML, and plain text renditions for documents, based on your settings.

What about something like a WORD document. Lets assume that someone has embedded a EXCEL document into the WORD document as a link to the original Excel document (rather than the usual cust and paste). The idea is that if the EXCEL document is ever changed, the updates would show up in the WORD document when it is opened. I would expect that the document would be saved as is and nothing would be stripped out. So, if the link were broken the Excel document would no longer show up on the WORD document. I hope this example isn't unclear.

I am not sure how we handle (or if we handle it at all) in MP.

Your best bet is to give it a shot and see what happens :-)
