Container inside Container

How do we fetch data from an item which is inside a container which is inside another container using FormAPI?

root container Z
.......container 1
..............item A
..............container 2
.......................item B
............../container 2
......./container 1
/root container

I am able to fetch item A's value as /Z/1/A.getValue(). But /Z/1/2/B.getValue() is giving me an error.

Using numbers for the names of the containers is probably not a good idea - even when just trying to talk about these things in generic terms - because numbers are used to indicate the index of replicant containers.

Item B might be: /Z/C1[1]/C2[1]/B - or something like that.
