Encoding in Visual Format

Hi All

We're using VF for our DCTs in TS6.7.2 and we've just noticed an issue with character-encoding. When, for example, and ampersand is entered into a VF field, in the source this is automatically encoded as & However, when the DCR is saved this is doubled-up so that the record contains &&. We're generating XML based on this content and this double-encoding is causing issues for us.

Has anyone noticed this behaviour before? Any potential solutions?

I'm just curious, are you sure it's coming out as

or is it just

&amp;

(with only one '&')?

The latter I could see as a double-encoding where the '&' in '&' gets re-encoded to ensure that it doesn't mess up the XML stream (I'm not saying it's "right" - just that it makes a bit of theoretical sense).

Thanks for the response ghoti. Yes, it's definitely being encoded with 2 ampersands, so I can see how this might make sense. Any ideas as to how to proceed with this? I could modify my XML-generating script, but would rather handle the issue at source if possible.

You can handle it in at least one of three ways:

I've not had to deal with this issue, so I cannot tell you (from experience) which one to do - though I'd lean towards the last one because it often tends to be easier (for me).
