Your question is devoid of context and therefore makes no sense.
The first thing I would do, however, is change the path-separators:

my $area = "Y:/default/main/intranet/STAGING";

and then probably make the code a bit more portable:

use TeamSite::Config;
my $iwmount = TeamSite::Config::iwgetmount();
my $area = "$iwmount/default/main/intranet/STAGING";

But all of the above is probably meaningless without the context, since it isn't clear if the area path is actually being hard-coded like you show, or being provided through some other means.

It is being hard coded exactly as shown. What I would like is that it stays in relative to the users workarea and not pull straight from staging.

You have a path to staging. You want to get a path to a user's workarea from that path, right? You need more information in order to obtain this or you need to rephrase or refine your question. Maybe it's because you are so smart that your question is above our heads. Or maybe it's because we're so foolish as to not understand a simple question. But either way, we need more info. You're the one looking for answers, after all.

The above code gives you the placeholder for any workareas on that branch. You can iterate through it and find actual workareas. Maybe this will help you. Maybe it won't. Maybe you like this code. Maybe you don't. But either way, give some more info and more people will help.
