How to extend existing Development Visitor Profile

Hi,
How to add new properties or new attributes in development visitor profile.
We are having age,gender,emai,address,etc for the user.
Suppose i want to add new property like "department" and "phone number" in existing profile,how to achieve that.

Can anyone please specify the configuration files,database table and java that needs to be modified .
