how can i delete previous edition?

after using Teamsite 6.7.2 after months, i've got many editions of different files in storage. how can i get rid of them for storage limitation reason since i'm sure i will never need to rollback to a former edition?
can iwmigrate do that ? do i have alternative choice?

This may sound simplistic, but select the check box next to the Edition(s) you want to delete and use the File / Delete menu option... (command line tools also available)

You should then consider using iwfsshrink to ensure that unreferenced files are removed from the store completely.

Note: Editions are not expensive in terms of disk storage; they are pointers into the content store not snap shot copies of the files at a given point in time.

If you are not using Editions, then don't create them.
I presume you have a workflow task that's doing this for you?
If so, remove it...

Let me guess - you're also sure you never need a backup for your computer or health insurance for yourself or members of your family either.

As already stated - an edition, by itself, does not take up much in the way of disk space. They maintain references to specific versions of all files in the branch. Over time, having many editions means that you have many references to many different versions of the files in the branch.

Some companies like to limit the number of editions per branch (like 100 or 500 or something equally as arbitrary) - and have their own custom process that removes N+1 edition(s) whenever that mark is hit. This will tend to keep backing store disk space utilization under some control as specific versions of files will only be garbage-collected when there are 0 (zero) references to it (workareas, staging area, and editions) - so by removing older editions, you eventually remove all references to specific versions of files and thus [slowly] remove old versions of those files.

iwmigrate is a useful utility for doing this in large chunks if you want to both (a) preserve historical versions of the files and (b) significantly reduce the size of your backing store. Using iwmigrate you can migrate (for example) the first N (where N is 100, 500, 1000, whatever) editions of branch X from its normal store (e.g.: 'default') into a temporary second store (e.g.: 'backup'), once that's done, you can dump the temporary second store to removable media, delete the temporary second store and then delete those N editions from the default store.
