$page_scope

I am facing an issue with the usage of Page_Scope Token. I am trying to use the value of $PAGE_SCOPE[page_locale_name] (This variable is available by default in the page XSL and is used in page header section) in the page.

Whenever i preview the .page file, this variable returns the value (e.g. English - United States) but whenever i generate HTML from this .page file, the value present in $PAGE_SCOPE[page_locale_name] is gone and is not available in the page header.

This is happening in all the branches and in all page types. Is there anything i can do to capture this value in generated HTMLs ? i see the same problem with other variables using PAGE_SCOPE token. Other tokens are working fine in generated HTMLs.
