That's malformed XML. Use CDATA perl bracketing. Like this:

<iw_perl><![CDATA[
. . . Perl Code . . .
]]></iw_perl>

I am getting a similar error when I try to parse the dcr in an ipl file for external task.

not well-formed (invalid token) at line 1, column 0, byte 0 at /Interwoven/TeamSite/iw-perl/vendor/lib/XML/Parser.pm line 187

I have attached my xml/dcr. It does not have any visible errors.

The code from ipl

my $parser = TeamSite::XMLparser->new();
my $rootnode = $parser->parse($xml);
if (!defined $rootnode)
{
my $error = $parser->get_error();

&log("error from rootnode = $error");
}
else
{
my $subject = $rootnode->value('Story.subject');
}

What am I missing?

How do you populate $xml?

namithapai

I used a couple of different things but no luck.

1.Got value from get workflow argument.
2. Printed the file path and it looks correct.
3. Gave entire path from /iwmnt hard coded for $xml
4. Removed $xml and put the entire path in quotes in the parse statement.

I consistently get the same error. The XML file itself is so simple that I am at a loss. I read several forums for XML also and basically they talk about encapsulating CDATA blocks for code. But I don't have any code or special chars in my xml.

I also tried with DCRnode, XMLnode, DCRparser. Same error. :-(

I think the question that was asked is: Does $xml contain the path to the file or the contents of the file ? The parser expects to get a variable containing the XML itself and not a filename
