same DCT in different branch

We are following an architecture which has few questions.

A DCT is existing in branchA and theer are few DCRs created of this data type. Now same DCT is copied to a branchB and its configured in templating.cfg

If I copy DCRs of this data type from branchA to branchB, will this DCR work fine ? (If I am editing this copied DCR, will it work) Or will it give an error ?

We were discussing that it will have some EA issue. I checked properties of DCR, I find location attribute, which may cause an issue. Is there anything else which can cause issues ? Can I modify these EAs for a DCR ?

If you have the identical DCT in branchA and branchB (not just the DCT, but the exact same category and datatype) then the DCRs from branchA should be able to be copied / moved to branchB without any issues.

If the DCT (structure) is identical, but the category and/or datatype is different, you would have to modify the appropriate EA(s) on the copied / moved DCRs accordingly (iwextattr)

If you modify the copied DCT, the effect on the copied / modified DCRs is situation-dependentent. I.e.: Data in the DCRs will not be found for existing items whose structure (xpath) has changed. However, if you just add items to the existing structure, there should be no problem (they'll just start out with blank values).
