Dependency manager does not find all dependencies?

Hi,

I have played around with the new Dependency Manager (new in ts72) and found that is does find, in a dcr, image-urls in a browser-field AND images in tinymce (via browser).
But it does not find image-urls that are set in a plain text field.

Is this expected behaviour?

Anybody with any background with this tool already?

You should probably check with Support (I'd be curious to hear their response), but my guess is that this is expected behavior because they don't expect people to put HTML directives (such as image references, etc) in plain-text textareas.

You might be able to augment the information in the dependency management system with some custom CSSDK code that parses your DCR's plain-text areas looking for such references - but that's just a guess (thus far I've only dealt with querying the dependency management system, don't know if there are methods for inserting / updating information in it.)

Whoops - I somehow read "plain text field" as "plain textarea", hence the above response. My mis-read has since been pointed out in error. Given that, using FormAPI to copy the text from the text field to a hidden textarea field (via an onSaveValid handler) might do the trick without altering the visual appearance of the UI.

I am with Ghoti on this one. I would be surprised if it caught a text field image tag.

Another option is to use FormAPI and have it add a new hidden field with image tag references so they get picked up. Expect that to be much easier than messing with CSSDK.

In the 7.2 release, dependency management in DCRs is supported on the following form items:
- browse
- dialog
- textarea (img src=... tag)

When the DCR is saved, all these items are checked against the DCRs workarea, and if the related file is present, then the dependency association is added.

Easy enough, change it from a text to textarea (without MCE/VFE) and it should work.

James - are you stating this from documentation or as an Autonomy insider? (if the latter, please add a signature line to identify yourself / your credentials).

I'm curious whether a browse or dialog field that utilizes FormAPI's onCallout handler to call a custom UI for browsing will get picked up automatically.

The functionality is mentioned in:
- User guide
- 7.2.1 release notes.
D.M. builds relationships that TeamSite knows about:
- browse
- dialog
- textarea (img src=... tag) (managed by TinyMCE)
using "location" to create dependency link.

For instance if you use the same image in multiple DCR's it knows about that.
It will not know to search through text fields to look for image src fields.

For example if you ues a different WYSIWYG editor than Tiny called by a collout, D.M. doesn't parse this content...

A workaround could be done during save/submit action:
1- parse content to find any embedded objects
2- query D.M. to current related embedded objects
3- delete the curent related embedded objects
4- add any embedded objects at the point 1

This also prevent any impact from the revert, move, rename action.
