TeamSite 7.0 released or not?

Frederik

I was wondering what the status is on TS 7.0. It's status seems to be rather mysterious - as also picked up in this blog some time ago: http://www.cmswatch.com/Trends/1732-Teamsite-Version-Seven

So what's the deal? It's not downloadable either...

I guess my main reason for asking is that I suppose once it's (really) out, IWOV will kill off (a.k.a. EOL) the 6.5 product line which we're still dependent on.

OK, from what I can tell 7.0 is what we used to call Beta. It is out, I am using it. Actually it is pretty good. 7.1 is due Feb/March timeframe and is to be a general release. 7.0 only went to people where an SE would fly out to install it.

Maybe they are doing the same thing as they did with TS 6.7.0. TS 6.7.0 was never released to general population, but it started with TeamSite 6.7.1. Although some people did get a hold of 6.7.0....

If you look at the previous response from nipper - "it is out" (with respect to 7.0) is a relative term - it's available for certain customers based on some internal decision making process - but it is not "generally available".

7.1 sounds like it is targeted for general availability around the end of 2010Q1 - until then, some folks are getting to use 7.0 and the rest of us aren't - and for those who are, they are probably using various different builds of 7.0 (I was at a customer site where they were using build # 698 - I believe there have been at least several subsequent builds since then).

The admin UI has some nice features, though since they haven't changed the underlying configuration files you still have to choose between version-controling configuration files in your own "config" branch or being able to edit the copies on the local disk (without version control) through the Admin UI.

Well you get the picture without actually getting to see the picture.

I've normally worked on all new betas, except this one. Would be great to see it before 71 comes out. Hopefully there will be lots of good devnet sessions covering it. Looking forward to it!
