Initiate a workflow through perl?

Hi all,

Can we initiate a workflow through ipl files?

Scenario is that on click of Save / Finish button on the DCR, a couple of things are done through the ipl files. After this I need to initiate the workflow immediately, without having "choose a workflow" screen or "Submit now or later" screen?

ENV: TS 6.7.2, Linux

My answer is Yes You can invoke workflow from perl.
Steps:
1. Construct the wft object using workflowTemplate Module and passing parameter as wft file
2. Construct the variables using the above object
3. Get job specification from workflow object
4. Initiate the workflow using jobspecification(with iwjobc)

This has been discussed few times on the Forum. I can not recall any sample or coherent instructions, etc.

The best recommendation I remember was to look into iwmodelc(Windows) / iwmodeldct(Unix) commands, run them
without parameters to get help Info and go from there

I believe that iwmodeldct is for creating custom WFM instantiation forms - not for instantiating the workflow itself (despite what the documentation says -- I don't have a Unix box to check on right now though)

1. Construct the wft object using workflowTemplate Module and passing parameter as wft file

3. Get job specification from workflow object
4. Initiate the workflow using jobspecification(with iwjobc)

You might want to consider looking at iwwft_compile.ipl - it's a lot easier for instantiating WFTs than going through the steps you mention.
