can anyone share the code for setting extended attributes for all the files in a particular workarea as i dont know perl?

There is no single command that will do what you are asking for.
On Unix, it would be possible to put together a pipe-chained command to do this.
My recommendation: Learn perl or hire someone who knows it.

In Linux/Solaris

find /iwmnt/default/main/branch/WORKAREA/Content -type f -exec iwextattr -s SOME-EA=This-val {} \;

Take my suggestion. Learn Perl if you are working on TeamSite. Else life is gonna be real difficult for you.
