How to do testing for teamsite?

Hi All,

I donot know much about teamsite and in my first job my company asked me to do testing for teamsite.

They explained about form content entry ,preview and submission.

Now they asked me to do testing by writing testcases of dcr,generate page and db.

But as a freasher I donot know where to start.

Do we have any document for teamsite testing ?

If no please guide how should I do in correct process

I think you will not find any document for teamsite testing.

Better you follow your component specifcations and component mapping doucment for dcr and generated page testing and write test cases according that.

Further for db testing there will be dbschema design follow that and make test cases according that.

You need to have understanding of TeamSite system first, because as a fresher, it may be difficult initially to grasp the concept of CMS in general.

Try to get hold of manuals, that will help you a lot.

What sort of testing do you want to do? DCRs are XML files created via a business-friendly UI. You want to validate them against some XSD or something? What sort of testing? You can write some logic either through FormAPI or WF that can test and validate your content.

I think you need to be clear about what your testing requirements are from TeamSite perspective. Only then you can be sure about possibilities.

We've played around a bit with automating DCT testing via jWebUnit, but I suspect that it is rare that you would get enough benefit from it to justify the additional cost of maintaining the tests. Others have done automation with tools like LoadRunner, but that is even more costly. There's a comparatively high amount of subjectivity involved in template testing. Generally, I think there's value in automating unit testing of your perl modules, java externals, and your wfts/ipms, but maybe not so much for templating.

If you interested in GUI based automation testing of DCTs , like opening up the new pages, data entry, saving the forms and runnnig the workflows, you can try "Selenium". Using this either you can easily record and then play or you can write your own java programs using Selenium API , you can perform anything that can be done manually in TeamSite GUI.
