can someone please help me in writing the regular expression for the following..
actually In fileVapth I have "Y:\default\main\safari\Airline\WORKAREA\Workarea01/html/jetnet/china.html";

But I need to change it to /default/main/safari/Airline/WORKAREA/Workarea01/html/jetnet/china.html ---All fwd slashes and stripoff y:
For this i tried to write the regex as following...But did not workout can u please help...

1.I tried to replace backwd slashes with fwd slashes using $fileVpath=~ s# \ # / #ig;
2.To strip off y:$fileVpath=~ s# ^y Smiley Sad

.*) # $1 #i;

Following is the program...

i suggest you spend 15 mins reading about the basics of regex (special characters and how to escape special characters...)

This is, as has already been posted, is very basic stuff, but you have a lot of stuff wrong in the above, as highlighted. Here is a more correct version of the code

#!c:/iwhome/iw-perl/bin/iwperl

my $iwmount = TeamSite::Config::iwgetmount();
my $fileVpath = 'Y:\default\main\safari\Airline\WORKAREA\Workarea01/html/jetnet/china.html';

$fileVpath =~ s|^$iwmount||i;

Now - assuming nobody else chimes in with all the answers - and the fact that I've made [most of] the changes blatantly obvious - can you explain what all the corrections are for and why they are needed?
If not - you either need to do a lot of reading / learning - or you should find yourself a new job, one for which you are more qualified.
(NOTE: the space that appears within the definition of $fileVpath is a byproduct of the forum software and not actually in the code)

I remember having to change it from using just iwperl to iwperl.exe a long time ago. Some TeamSite update caused just iwperl to stop working. I don't know if it's necessary anymore to add the ".exe" (I'm to lazy to test it). But, since you're on a Windows server it won't hurt if you use iwperl.exe.

You missed the "-" in iw-home.

You are assuming the path is iw-home - if you look carefully at my post the "iwhome" was in italics, indicating that it should be replaced with whatever the actual path is (e.g.:

c:/Interwoven/TeamSite, c:/iw-home

, or even

c:/iwhome

without a hyphen if that's what it is)

The need for the .exe usually has to do with someone, or something, incorrectly doing a redirect into "iwperl" causing a zero-length file by that name to be created in that directory. If you find such a beast, you can just remove it and the use of just "iwperl" should work just fine.

The .exe is not necessary, HOWEVER, there is often an issue where a blank iwperl file is created in the same folder as iwperl.exe (typically someone tries a malformed unix redirection)

If you have iwperl.exe then you avoid using that null file.

Of course if someone overwrites iwperl.exe with a blank file (which has happened once or twice) you cannot avoid the problem.
