File Browser takes too much time to display file list

haider

Hi All,

We are facing an issue with TeamSite 6.7.2. When we are browsing files from file browser it's taking too much time to display all the files in a particular folder.

The folder contains total 5000+ type of assets like images, pdf and swf. and the size of the folder is 1.5 GB.

Can you please suggest any solution for file browser dialog will display the content promptly.

Regards

break up the folder or deal with it.

this is an underlying web/OS issue and a lot of data that needs to be read and displayed.

Restructure folder and move the 5000+ files into subfolders.
Use pagination option in teamsite file list view.
You could also give more memory to the system if it runs on max.

it all goes back to having large number of files under one folder... do you need all those files in that structure? you might say it is a hassle to changing the structure now since it will require update links in a lot other places, but that is the price of not planning ahead.

Thanks,

The same way i already communicated this to my client either they have to break the structure and update all references in lots of places or live with this.

I may be worng can you please answer of below question?
Upgradation of RAM and increasing of IWSTORE disk space will help to improve this performace?

If it does, it will only be by the smallest of factors - the problem is quite simple - throw 5000 sheets of paper on the floor in a room - then see how long it takes you to go through each one and identify:

specific to TeamSite - if you throw 5000 files into a single folder on the local disk, and then do a long-listing of the contents - it will take a while to display the results. It then takes longer to do it in the GUI because the GUI is also trying to present the results in a pleasing fashion (e.g. with the proper icons, etc.).If, on the other hand, you were to break the mass up into 10 folders, each containing 500 files - you'll find that the performance should increase dramatically. You could go further, but at that point it's more a question of organizational structure than performance.

Thanks

This is really help me to understand this Smiley Happy

We will suggest to re-organize the folder structure of the asset content.
