Cloned production. Need to update server name.

Hello.

We took a clone of our production server to create a little development environment.

We're working on updating the configs to point to the new server name, but for some reason when we open up the Teamsite page, it continually points to our production server.

The Dev servers name is in the address bar, but the TS browser is pointing to prod.

This is the same issue I'd come across if I was moving servers and had to update my Teamsite configs to point to a new server name.

Where do I go to set the server name?

I certainly hope you have a dev license for TS.

If you edit a file in the browser, does it really change one on dev while the location bar says prod ? I *think* that is out of the license which you probably have being called the prod server.

We do have a license. Our last dev server became corrupted.

The other admin said he had updated the license, but I'll verify with him.

it will be much quicker to install and migrate the configs and some of the data than trying to fix all issues related to changed hostname.

We tried doing an install and moving the store over, but experienced a number of issues. We called up Interwoven, but started going in circles with them.

We thought doing an imaging might be a simpler solution.

It seems like one of those "6 of one, half a dozen of the other" kind of situations.

We can bring up "http://jwtcvdwcms/iw-cc/command/iw.admin.ui" login page, which is on the dev server. However, once we login we are connected to the dev server although the address bar still shows the dev server.

Part of the reason we're trying this method is that we did a fresh install on the dev server, but the TS versions wouldn't match up. We asked Interwoven what patches/updates/etc we needed in order to match the versions up, but they were of no help.

We're going to keep working on modifying this cloned server for now, but we're kind of running out of ideas here.

The address bar is because TS *thinks* it is the prod server. If you change a file, and save it, it is likely saved on the dev filesystem

It came back with correct info.

We're really at our wits end with all this. We were hoping this would be a simple fix.

We're now thinking of just upgrading our dev server to 6.7.2 SP2.

We're currently at 6.7.1.

No, it changes on the production system.

Apache is actually broken now.

"The Interwoven Web Daemon was unable to contact the Interwoven Servlet Engine. The Interwoven Servlet Engine may be down, or running on an unexpected host or port. Please contact your system administrator."

OK that is quite screwy.

Log on the clone and play with TS, try a couple (use GUI, change file etc).

Try with the IP address

You may want to edit iw.cfg and change hostname to localhost or use the IP

Again i doubt if you are going to go very far with changed hostname. Even though there are numbered areas where you need to change the hostname and IP, those areas are not documented anywhere. you will just have to do complete search / replace under iw-home and registery, if you were on linux i would say that could be an easy task, but windows search sucks, so best of luck!

what do you mean the TS versions wouldn't match up?
what is the verision of teamsite you have in prod? Service Pack? patch? build #?
what kind of assistance do you need from Interwoven with this?

We're starting to think that our dev server might be the cause of the issues we were experiencing. We're finding some memory errors in the events log.

We're going to flatten it and install 6.7.2 SP2 on a clean build. This should correct the issue.
