Hi everyone,

I have a requirement of accessing Extended attributes using formsAPI. I am currently working on Teamsite7.0. Also there are few built in extended attributes like CreationDate,Modified etc. Please help me on how to get the value of these attributes as well.

-->Now i want to utilize the CreationDate attribute automatically provided by Teamsite, i.e. everytime we tag a file, creation date attribute is displayed in the properties menu.
-->Also i have written this validation logic inside my rulesets60\TestRule.cfg file. I want to get this code in an external .js file. I have done the same for datacapture.cfg of my datacaptureTemplates, but it is not working for my TestRule.cfg. I am able to write the logic in an external .js file for DCTs but if i write the same code for EAs i.e. in my TestRule.cfg it doesnt work.

Okay so far.

To do that, you need to perform a callServer request and utilize iwattrib or some other CLT, though it is possible such information may be misleading and/or less useful than you may imagine. Also, this kind of code might not work very well when tagging multiple files at once.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

--> The location / full path of the external javascript file is iw-home\local\config\tagui\rulesets60 folder only, where my TestRule.cfg is present. I have also tried palcing the javascript file in the content store(y drive).

--> I am refering it using the following code <script location="template-type" src="Validation.js"/>when the javascript file is present in the iw-home\local\config\tagui\rulesets60 folder and through the <script location="template-type" src="y:\default\main\Workarea\XYZ\Validation.js"/> when the javascript file is present in the content store. I have also tried giving the path using the iw-mount when placing the file in content store like //localhost/iw/iw-mount/default/main/WORKAREA/XYZ/Validation.js

--> we do not have any requirement regarding where the file must be stored.

-->When i write the validation logic inside my TestRule.cfg it works absolutely fine.

--> i have used the same validation logic, and same external javascript file in case of my DCT and i have used the exact code there as well and it works absolutely fine in case of DCT.

My guess would be that src="template_type" does not work for TagUI - though I cannot verify that - you might try putting the js file into some place like IWHOME/httpd/iw/ - and then reference it using a different src=value.

I tried using both the methods you suggested but it is still not working. the logic of my javascript is written in the following manner:-

But i guess the FormInit doesnot work with the TagUI

FormInit works in TagUI, as Adam pointed out, location of your js file should be iwhome/httpd/iw-bin.
Start with including your js code in the DCT till you get something working, then figure out how to put into a standalone file, something like this:

Is the above a typo in the forum posting - or is that literally what the line looks like in your file? If that's what it literally looks like, I suggest you re-read the FormAPI manual because that line is incorrect.

Well Adam,Crsb that was just a typo error in the message, i am now attaching 3 files along with this thread:-
1. TestRule.cfg--> when i write my javascript code inside the file itself. This code works absolutely fine.
2. TestRuleUsingExternalJS.cfg--> when i am calling the external js file located in iw-home\httpd\iw-bin or iw-home\httpd\iw. I have tried both the locations.
3. abc2.js--> The external .js file.

First, I would put the script tag above the root-container element instead of below it.
Secondly, you have:

<script src="iw-home\httpd\iw-bin\abc2.js"/>

which is wrong - try:

<script language="javascript" location="webserver" src="/iw-bin/abc2.js"/>

Hey adam thanks a lot for your help.. i have got it working now. i have used my script tag as <script language="javascript" location="webserver" src="http://servername/iw-mount/default/main/WORKAREA/XYZ/abc2.js"/>

i had to put my javascript file in the content store.
