Location based targeting

Hi,

We have a requirement to send a user to a different localized site based on his location. So far we have setup two sites in TeamSite. A third party tool is going to provide the ip address to location mapping for us.

1. User browses to the site, www.mycompany.com
2. If his ip address is from a french location, then he will be redirected to www.mycompany.com/site_fr
3. Else he will be redirected to www.mycompany.com/site

Using targeting, can this redirection be achieved? Any pointers are appreciated.

Why use targeting when a simple precontroller would do this just fine?

That would be one way to do it. We are exploring all the options at this point.
Can it be achieved using targeting? So far based on our research, it doesn't seem to be possible.

It can be done by browser language setting.
