I am getting error while using callserver in the custom instantiation screen. The javascript error message is as follows:

Error: 'fw_url_bean' is undefined

Hard to say something definite without having any code but - it *looks* like your callServer Script
generates JS with errors. Literal "fw_url_bean" is interpreted verbatim as undefined JS variable whereas
it should perhaps have been evaluated to some Value by the script, etc

To illustrate, within generated JS output you may have something like
var thisBean = fw_url_bean;
instead of required
var thisBean = "Value of some fw_url_bean Property";

callServer works by generating CGI formatted output into Instantiation (or DCR) hidden Frame.

It absolutely does not matter how simple or complex your script is. You either call your IPL incorrectly, return
generated code incorrectly(violate CGI formatting, etc) or have some syntax/run-time problems with the returned code.
Without FormAPI/perl code to look at the only recommendation I can give is that you have to debug it

I am trying to add a callserver to custom_instantiation and getting the same error.

Actually, I have an OnItemChange event that triggers this function with a display message and then callserver. I don't see the display message either. Which makes me wonder if the onItemchange event is not being triggered?

I have the same exact code in a regular DCT and it works fine.

You should use absolute xpath "/Config/section" instead of "Config/section".

Sorry that was a typo.. I did use /Config/section .. I was trying various combinations but it does not work :-(

Chances are, you have JS syntax or perhaps run-time errors somewhere else (eg, outside of the posted JS Fragments).
If that's the case, you should be able to see the "Error" Icon in the Browser's Status Bar

I don't have any other error other than what this initial thread mentioned.
The entire cfg is attached.

fw_url_bean not defined. This is in datacapture.js in the callserver function.

As I mentioned before, the same exact code is in the regular DCT and works.

what version of TS are you using?
I know this, will not work in TS 672 SP2 WFM DCT:

The only change to code I made was adding the two items and adding the formapi code.

These two snippets that I added in my original code was the only alteration I did on the generated cfg.

Moreover, the error about the bean appears as soon as I pick the first item from the select options.

None of my display statements appear. I am starting to wonder if this is a bug.

Code has been encapsulated within CDATA bracketing. Overall XML therefore is well-formed
and Command "for(i=0;i<dsItemId.length;i++)" has perfectly correct syntax

Comment out IWDatacapture.callServer temporarily. Do you have operational displays now? If you don't - your issue,
whatever that may be has nothing to do to callServer

Yes, you seem to be correct.

I recreated a new custom_instantiation.cfg file. Removed all script info that comes automatically and just added one single display statement. Not additional items, no other script. But it does not display. Also, no error whatsoever.

I see the generated code has

the url on the xmlns redirects to index page when I test on browser. Could that have anything to do with the problem?

Since this seemed to be a huge issue just to get selective drop downs, I resorted to using combination "or' containers to achieve similar results.

Also opened case with Support to see if they can help with original problem. I will update the forum if I have any answers.
