I'm curious if anyone else found problems with "preparing" the download link (I ended up downloading each one from the initial link provided) and also whether anyone else found it annoying that they don't seem to have provided doc bundles.

I'm hoping to get this installed on my personal dev box this week....

Is it more stable than 7.0? Or just a marketing gimmick, putting a .1 will get more people to install it.

Great...so it looks like I'll have to get a database setup for TeamSite that we'll never use before I can even install this thing in our Dev environments....

Suggestion: try to install one component at a time, my experience with installing 7.0 was a long adventure. a lot of redundant input fields and the terminology changed little from previous teamsite installs but not too hard to figure out. also, no matter how confident and familiar you are with teamsite installation, keep a log of every field you fill out (name and value) because you will run into the same or similar field again where you will need to enter the same data.

This is most true with regard to the database fields for SitePublisher, LiveSite, ReportCenter, Event Subsystem, etc.

I'm waiting to hear back from Support because although everything seemed to have gotten installed okay - I cannot seem to get to the new Admin UI (I can get into CCPro - just not the Admin UI)

I also just found out that I cannot seem to connect the new WFM to the new TS server - both running on the same machine (server-as-client)

Windows - however - I'm making some progress (I decided to try running the unified installer again and it found several additional modules to install - including the admin module...)

As always, unfortunately, the manuals could really use some work. There's a bit too much information in too many different places and not always in (IMO) a logical ordering.

FYI - After doing the second pass with the installer I now have access to the Admin UI and my WFM can connect to the server too.

So things are looking better now.

Can anybody please tell me what does the custom database mean in the installation of TS 7.1? I tried installing TS with IBM DB2 9.1. the installer went to the last and then failed and gave some user permission error.

Is it possible to use an express database for installing teamsite like oracle express etc. They have a limited storage of 5 GB. How much will be the data volume which teamsite will push into database?

DB2 is supported by TeamSite 7.1 for all components except for ReportCenter, and of course it doesn't say anything about db2 express. i have used db2 express with 672SP2 and it worked just fine, so i dont see why it wouldnt work with 7.1. the storage limitation impact depends on your usage, what do you plan on using the database for ? if it is just for the eventsubsystem then it shouldn't be a problem at all for dev and prod env. if you plan on using it with SP, LS and to store content/data then you will have to do the math to find the answer.

i didn't pay attention to the custom option in the database options but i see it now, and i am curious to know how that option can be used.

I think that's the option you can use for mysql since they use mysql as the example driver for the custom option.

Im having the same admin problem, i cant get it to work. Did you use jdk 1.6?
will this work with JDK 1.5?
What DB are you using? and JDBC?

I downloaded and installed JDK 1.6 as directed by the manuals.
I'm using MS SQL Server 2005
Have you run the unified installer a second time? If not, you need to do so.

This is great news. I'm going to have to give it a try out. Not sure about the database. I've always used Derby for local test installations. Going to have to get a copy of MS SQL now.

just double click on the unified installer and it will tell you what components you have installed. if you see the Admin UI console box checked, then the admin UI is installed and you have to troubleshoot the issue. if it is not checked, then you need to check it /select it and go thru the steps the installer provides to complete the installation.
follow the installation steps in the manual, it even it has screenshots for you.
