Tune the TeamSite Performance

Hi All,

We are facing few performance issue on TeamSite Content Center. It is relay behaving very slowly as compare to normal. My TeamSite environment details,

TeamSite : 6.7.2 Sp1
OS: Linux
Disk used: 52%
cachesize=80000

Can you guys please suggest me few approaches to tune this server?

difficult to say based on what info you supply.

I would, at minimum, check on:
- normal OS performance (cpu, memory, swap, disk usage, etc)
- run iwstat, multiple times, and check results
- check all ts logs
- run iwfschk
- restart teamsite service

Check the mounted drives
/usr/sbin/showmount -a

Check all interwoven services are running are not
/usr/bin/ps -ef | grep iw

Check the services
/usr/bin/ps -eo pid,ppid,uid,gid,vsz,rss,pmem,pcpu,s,time,stime,etime,args

Check the store and iwhome memory usage
df -k $iwstore 2>&1
df -k $iwhome 2>&1

All TS services are up. Memory stats for iwstore and iwhome is also ok.

Error in iwtrace.log is :
The TeamSite server is close to the per-process memory limit (used = 3801564 KB, proc-mem avail = 0 KB).

Please reduce cachesize and restart server to alleviate the problem.
All stores are being deactivated

This required me to restart TS server.

Other issue is with the messages table. There are about 30000 messages lined up there. What could be the possible issue. I am not getting any error in eventsubd.log.

Reduce your cache size in iw.cfg and reset the server.Usually cache size should be depends on branch and store size. It should not low or high. I think support site has provided the article about this. check it in support site

Cache Sizing Guidelines

The article provides general guidelines for increasing or decreasing the cachesize setting in iw.cfg based on the performance data.

Increasing the Cache SizeThe cache size could be increased if the following three conditions are satisfied:The output iwstat -c shows ~90% of total cache slots in use. The cache is fully populated.The system has sufficient physical memory to accommodate larger iwserver process.There is significant cache turnover.To determine cache turnover rate, run iwstat -c in a 3 second loop and monitor the total available cache slots. Available cache is typically in the range of (90% - 2000) and 90% of cachesize.When available cache reaches 90% of total cachesize, 2000 cache slots are released back into the available pool. If this happens frequently (e.g. one or more times each minute) then it means there is a significant cache turnover. Interwoven does not currently have any guidelinesfor cache turnover rate.Decreasing the Cache SizePrimarily there are two situations that prompt for decreasing the cache size. iwserver process approaching or exceeding 2Gb. iwserver process getting pushed out to swap. This would mean more disk activity which can slow down the performance.Maximum cache size for TeamSite 5.5.X is 400000

i found one more problem while executing the iwqueryjobs -s myserverName clt command. it is not coming back with the results. i am not sure this could also be a cause of hanging TeamSite. Can you please guide me?

haider You are welcome. Even i am facing the same issue when execute the command. I don't think so it will be affecting your performance. Instead of that just check how many jobs are running in your Teamsite.

one more thing just check the clt command and perl module execution time. to check Whether it taking time or not?
