Set metadata to a file

I would like to set up metadata specified by user who is submitting the file. for example a user submits a .pdf file to production. I want to prompt the user for metadata such as title, currently I am setting metadata as extended attributes of other files by extracting matadata from DCR values but as there is no DCR associated with pdf's this task is more complex.

just for fun, check the box next to a pdf and use the file menu and select tag.

Does that have the data you want to set ? If not you need to change iwhome/local/config/datacapture.cfg

After that you need to change your workflow to include a set metadata step. That is usually pretty easy but we know nothing about your workflow so I cannot help beyond that.

i want to promt the user to input the metadata and then apply that metadata to submited file(s), currently for files with dcr associated, it is a simple task, i do it:

problem arise when trying to set metadata to a non dcr file, example a .pdf
