Sending Email to a Group using WFM

Hi,

I am working in WFM and i am stuck in sending mails to Teamsite Group.
After my Email Task is a Review Task which contains a group as a reviewer and i want to send mails to the Users in the Group.
Please anybody can suggest me on this.

That is not out of the box functionality. You can add that without too much trouble. All you need to do is have a external task that is fed the next task ID, read the list of reviewers and loop through sending out an email.

I have done it in perl several times.

Hi,

Please note that if you are using an URL Task (like the one from the PLC) to send your e-mail, you need to be sure to name the task transition " Success". The Java Class com.interwoven.spring.workflow.task.DelegatingUrlExternalTaskProxy expects a transition matching "task name" + " Success".

For example, if your URL Task that sends the e-mail is called "Send Email", ensure that the default transition link is named "Send Email Success".

I have, on a project that wanted as little Perl as possible; I built my own Java class for handling emails and called it via a URL Task.

Basically, anyone using the OOTB Mail Task is using a URL Task for sending emails - but they're likely to run into the limitations of the OOTB code (poorly written IMO, given what already existed OOTB in iw_solutions_email.ipl).

How does a URL Task work (in a nutshell)? What does it do that an externaltask doesn't do as far as calling a Java class to send an email? I am just curious - I have never used a URL Task before and if it's something that might be useful, it's good to learn these things.

URL Task is a Java-based External Task that should implement "CSURLExternalTask" Interface. It is not interactive.

Semantically the Usage is similar to a traditional external task.
In short - with the traditional external Task WF Engine spawns the thread and executes ET Command passing
Job/Task/Area and (optionally) attached Files as Parameters. With the URL Task Engine sends http request to
the Servlet. Required information is posted. Take a look at interface methods' declarations to see what's available

Besides what Boris already said - from a WFT (not WFM) perspective - a URL Task is an <externaltask> where the

command

is a URI (e.g.: "/iw-cc/...") instead of a command-line program, and you have an additional task level variable to specify the class that should be loaded.
