Turning off email notification in WFM

Hi All,

I am using WFM and in the workflow i have an email task.
Can i turn on/off the email task at will?
Is there any easy way like a configuration file where i can specify whether to turn on/off email notification?

Please can somebody help me out?

OOTB - no, there's no dynamic way to switch on/off email notification except possibly by removing everyone's email addresses from tsusers.xml and/or email_map.cfg files.

Alternatively, build your own custom email notification class and design into it the means of reading an external configuration file to enable/disable the actual sending of the email.

Of course, this begs the question: Why are you trying to do this?

Client was asking that they want to switch on/off email notification at any point of time.

Thats why we were trying to find if like wft is there any configuration that can be made in wfm to make email notification configurable.

The fact that the client was asking for this does not, in itself, answer the question: WHY?

Thats why we were trying to find if like wft is there any configuration that can be made in wfm to make email notification configurable.

I had the same request before, i created a custom email task then added an option (radio button) in the instantiation form to turn off/on email notifications, by the default the email notifications are on.
For my requirements, this option was only available to certain users (site managers, approvers...) and not others (content authors).

final String dueDate = cwf.getVariable("Due_Date");
where "Due_Date" is the id of the global variable in WFM.

But when i try to print it its showing the value as null.

Is there something wrong with my approach?

Are you trying to do this during instantiaton or as part of an ExternalTask, URLExternalTask, or CGITask (or derivative of one of these)?

Presumably your java code has access to the current CSTask object, as such you should be able to access its containing CSWorkflow object, from which you should be able to access any workflow variables that were created during the instantiation process.

Due_Date can be null if it doesnt have any value.

the item name in the instantiation DCT should be the same as your workflow variable that you are trying to access from the external task.

Try this in wfm:
1) create global configurable variable named testGCV
2) create job variable named JVtestGCV with default value set to the global CV testGCV.
3) in the instantiation DCT, add tex. item named "JVtestGCV ".
4) in your external task, print task.getWorkflow().getVariable("JVtestGCV ");

publish workflow n instantiation DCT, rebuild for your java code changes and test.
